Bharti Airtel Limited, also known as Airtel, is an Indian global telecommunications services company based in New Delhi, India. It operates in 18 countries across South Asia and Africa, and also in the Channel Islands. Airtel provides GSM, 3G, 4G LTE, 4G+ mobile services, fixed line broadband and voice services depending upon the country of operation. Airtel had also rolled out its VoLTE technology across all Indian telecom circles. It is the third largest mobile network operator in India and the second largest mobile network operator in the world with over 411.42 million subscribers. Airtel was named India's 2nd most valuable brand in the first ever Brandz ranking by Millward Brown and WPP plc.

While Airtel is credited with pioneering the business strategy of outsourcing all of its business operations except marketing, sales and finance and building the 'minutes factory' model of low cost and high volumes, they have grabbed market share by doing so with a direct result of mediocrity.Unfortunately, their strategy has since been adopted by several operators. Airtel's equipment is provided by other big companies, essentially making them a leasing agent. It is provided and maintained by Ericsson, Huawei, and Nokia Networks whereas IT support is provided by Amdocs. The transmission towers are maintained by subsidiaries and joint venture companies of Bharti including Bharti Infratel and Indus Towers in India. Ericsson agreed for the first time to be paid by the minute for installation and maintenance of their equipment rather than being paid up front, which allowed Airtel to provide low call rates of ₹1 (1.4¢ US)/minute. Low rates have attracted customers but low quality has angered the same clients that Airtel is meant to serve.

Customers often complain how many times they have you customer care and the standard Airtel response of : "Sorry for the Inconvenience" rather than real customer support.

Top five Airtel Customer Complaints:

  1. Customers have constant dropped calls on Airtel network.
  2. Customers have to come out to your balcony to make a conversation because there is no coverage.
  3. Customers are charged multiple times have you been charged for service that was never delivered.
  4. Customers are fooled with bills saying that you have crossed your limit for Voice and Data, when you they did not really use that data.
  5. Customers have internet speed a fraction of what their plan promises.


Airtel has over 200 million customers in India, its one of the top 10 Indian companies, and yet the services are so poor. Companies need to know that customers are the ones that make them profitable. Customers have demanded their money's worth of Airtel to deaf ears. They have even started mass editions to the company to provide a functional service that they are paying for.

The Airtel Facebook page is full of complaints and the standard Airtel response is : "Sorry for the Inconvenience". Airtel really sucks!

"Incompetent services in mobile and broadband. They promise high speeds and most of the time pages too long to load and videos are buffering even after 5 minutes. This company\'s customer service is one of the worst in the world. There is absolutely no coordination between their stores and corporate offices. I have received completely inaccurate and misleading information from the customer service representatives and store employees all in the span of five hours. They send you on a wild goose chase if you want to port your number or convert to postpaid or prepaid. Best to leave their services, I will be recommending this to everyone I know."

Your boss is superior, he can make you run like a donkey if you don't please him. So weak management and there is no process. It is like a Jungle Raaj. If you want to succeed here, you need to have a godfather. Either make your boss your godfather or somebody else. You can be made a star, performer if you have good relations with the boss because boss will provide you avenues to get more business and he will also be biased. That's where extra power is harmful. Bosses control almost everything. Not a business segment for freshers because everything is controlled by the boss, his reportees (who are in good relations with him). They hire freshers from Management Campus only to ask them to leave in a year without even listening to the issues and not thinking about their future. No training was provided (except for the so-called on-the-job training) so you get to learn what your boss and his reportees want you to know. This is where lack of transparency in the process and other things come into place whose benefits are enjoyed by the bosses. Some bosses are like if you don't contribute to their party expenses, they will start pressurizing you with work. This kind of experience, I never had before. Then added pressure of owning a vehicle etc. Such indifference attitude by the boss and management, I never experienced. Don't bother going to the HR for your issues. They will only make the matter worse. Do nothing! Being very honest, the situation seemed worse than even many government departments. I regret joining this segment."

"Recently I moved from Voda to Airtel and this is my worst decision in terms of choosing telecom services. Airtel is so pathetic that you cant even watch a youtube video without buffering. They claimed that they have the highest speed in the market but what about the consistency, you are providing high speed for 10 min and for 5 min your internet services stop works. At least other providers provide you the consistency, they have the slow speed but at least your services will not be interrupted"
